The world runs on stories.
Tell yours.
There is no permanent self. We're seeking essays about the people, animals, or living systems that rearranged you. Encounters that changed how you orient toward the world.
Edition One Theme
The Encounters That Rearranged Us
- A stranger whose brief presence altered your internal compass
- A relationship that pulled you into a new orbit
- An animal or living system that shifted your understanding
- An unexpected journey into another way of being
- Small moments that catalyzed big changes
- Dramatic encounters you can't stop thinking about
What we're looking for
- Personal essays between 1,500–4,000 words
- Work about encounters that left a lasting mark on you
- Previously unpublished pieces (including on personal blogs or newsletters)
- Essays that balance intimate personal narrative with universal insight
- We're especially interested in subtle, psychologically rich moments, but compelling dramatic stories are welcome too
Note: We read every submission carefully. Quality matters more than credentials. We're looking for compelling voices, not impressive resumes.
